About Dotology

Dotology, run by DOT Holding, Inc. and based in the Metairie/New Orleans area, is a small, independently owned registrar built specifically around small and micro businesses rather than domain investors or large enterprises. The name is a play on "the study of domain names," and the company positions itself as a one-stop option — domain registration paired with entry-level cPanel shared hosting, a website builder, email, and SSL, aimed at someone launching their first site rather than someone managing dozens of them.

It runs standard Linux-based shared hosting rather than anything more specialized, with the typical starter allowances (a handful of gigabytes of storage, a few dozen mailboxes, one-click installers for WordPress and similar tools) common to that tier of hosting industry-wide.

There isn't a distinctive technical or pricing angle that sets Dotology apart from dozens of similar small regional hosts — its case is really about being a smaller, more personally-run alternative to the large national hosting brands for a very small business's first domain and website.
