Frequently asked questions

What DNS record types does this tool check?

It looks up A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA and CAA records in a single search — the record types most people need when troubleshooting a site, email, or domain setup.

Does this show whether my DNS has propagated worldwide?

No — this resolves live from one location, not dozens of servers around the world. If you specifically need to compare a record across regions after a change, look for a tool built for that; this one is for reading a domain's current records quickly, not comparing them across locations.

Why don't my new DNS records show up yet?

Changes take time to spread across the internet's resolvers — usually minutes to 48 hours depending on the record's TTL (time to live). If this still shows the old value, it likely hasn't finished propagating on your end yet.

What's the difference between an A record and a CNAME record?

An A record points a domain straight at an IP address. A CNAME points it at another domain name instead, letting that second name's own records do the resolving. A given name uses one or the other, not both.

Why does a domain show no MX records?

It means no mail server is currently set up to receive email there — either the domain isn't used for email at all, or the setup is misconfigured. Common, and not necessarily a problem, especially for website-only domains.
